QUESTIONS ABOUT CONSIGNING

What is a consignment sale?

You bring us the items you no longer want or need, and we will sell them for you!

How much can I earn? Am I able to earn more than 70%? When will I receive my check?

You will receive 70% of your sales minus a $10.00 consignor fee (which will be deducted from you check). This is a much better percentage than you would get for the item in a consignment store and more than you would receive selling it in a garage sale. Remember "you" set the price and there is no bartering on your set price. You have an option to earn up to 75% of your sales.See our Consignor page for more information. Your check will be mailed to you within seven to ten days from the end of the sale that you participate in. If you do not receive a check by the tenth day from the end of the sale, please contact us at consignor@my-consign.com.

How do I become a consignor? Does registration have an ending date?

See our Registration / Log In page and follow the instructions. Registration ends on October 7, 2007. After that date we can no longer accept consignors for this sale.

Will I be able to check what items have sold during the sale? Are consignors required to work at the sale?

A. Yes. You will be able to go your online account each morning to see what items you have sold. Consignors only need to stop by during the drop off times to leave their items, and return during the pickup times to retrieve anything that didn't sell or wasn't donated. MyConsign and volunteers will do the rest! However, please consider being a volunteer during the sale. Your reward for being a volunteer is a pass to one of the first two presales. For more information see our Volunteer page.

Who does the pricing? How do I make tags? Does MyConsign accept other forms of tags? Do I need any special equipment or paper to print tags? Am I able to see what items I have already entered? Can I change information about an item I've already entered?

YOU decide what price to set for your items. YOU decide whether your unsold items will be discounted for the half-price sale. YOU decide whether any unsold items can be donated. For suggested pricing guidelines, please see our Item Preparation page. Our online tagging software makes it easy to create and print your tags! Only tags created by this software are allowed, since they work with your inventory and enable us to mark what has sold. Anytime after you have registered for our sale, go to the Register / Log In page to log in and create your tags. Don't wait until the last minute! You will need either an ink jet or laser printer, make sure it is set for black ink and in normal or draft printing (best quality may be too dark and might cause the barcodes to blur). The barcode should print clear and clean. You will also need 60 to 67 lb white cardstock/coverstock. Smooth finish works best, a textured paper may cause the barcode to be blurry. Print a test page and adjust the settings in your printer preferences if needed before you print all your tags. See our Item Preparation page for more information. Go to the Register / Log In page to log in and manage your inventory. The sale will be locked at 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2008. Once it is locked you won't be able to add or edit tags, so don't wait until the last minute!

What items can I sell? Can I sell stuffed animals? Can I sell shoes? Do I have to clean the things I want to sell?

See our Consignors page for a list of items we will accept, as well as rules and guidelines on the condition of the items. Clothing items may be for any season (Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter). Don't forget other great kids items to sell, including sporting equipment, toys, books, CDs, DVDs, and videos. Only if they operate by batteries. They must have batteries installed and will be inspected to make sure they are working. However, they MUST be in good to excellent condition. We will accept shoes. This is a good place to sale ballet shoes, tap shoes, and sports shoes (e.g., baseball, basketball, soccer). To tag shoes for sale, either use a large safety pin or punch a hole through the tag and use ribbon to tie the tag to the pair of shoes. Another great way to tag shoes is to place them in a clear Ziploc bag and place the tag on the bag. A clean item is much more likely to sell than an dirty one (wouldn't you rather buy something that is clean?). MyConsign will inspect items for stains, holes, tears, napping, pilling, fading, missing buttons or snaps, non-working snaps or zippers, missing or broken parts, non-working parts, and cleanliness. A declined item will be returned to the consignor or, if it is marked for donation, the item will be placed in the designated donation area. MyConsign reserves the right to decline items that it deems does not meet this criteria.

Where do I find consignment supplies, i.e., hangers, pins, and cardstock? How do I get my items ready? How late can I add, edit, or print tags?

See our Item Preparation page for information. If you have questions, send us an e-mail at consignor@my-consign.com. The sale will be locked at 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2008. Once it is locked you won't be able to add or edit tags, so don't wait until the last minute!

How does drop off work? If I choose not to donate any unsold items, when do I pick them up? How does pickup work? Will my unsold items be sorted for pickup?

See our Drop Off / Pickup page for information on days, times, and detailed instructions. When you arrive for drop off, check-in first before you start to unload your vehicle to finish the registration process and pickup your presale passes. Then unload your items and place them on the sales floor, volunteers will help you determine in what areas to place your items. As we prepare for the sale, volunteers will inspect and organize the items. Please see our Drop Off / Pickup page for pickup times and more information. Again, check-in first, then retrieve your items. Your hanging items will be sorted by your consignor number. Also, we will do our best to have your other items sorted; however, this will be based on time constraints and the availability of volunteers. If you are available to volunteer at this time, please consider doing so as it will make pickup run much smoother. Please see our Volunteer page.

Is it really worth all my time and energy to participate in one of these sales?

You decide. Participate in the sale, and honestly weigh what you receive by participating in the sale against what you would have gotten through a garage sale or consignment store. It is hard work, but so is preparing for a garage sale (weather permitting); and you would receive 40% or less if you went through a consignment store.

QUESTIONS ABOUT VOLUNTEERING

Who can sign up as a volunteer? Do I have to be a consignor in order to sign up as a volunteer? Is there a deadline on signing up as a volunteer?

Anyone can sign up to be a volunteer. Shifts are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, if you are pregnant and/or have a medical condition, please volunteer for a time when the workload is less. Set up and tear down shifts require a lot of stamina and are not appropriate shifts for someone who is either pregnant and/or has a medical condition. If you require a volunteer shift with a softer workload, please e-mail us at volunteer@my-consign.com with your request. We will make every effort to accommodate your needs. For information on being a volunteer, please see our Volunteer page. No, you do not have to be a consignor in order to volunteer, but you still must register! Registration will be closed on March 31st.

What is the benefit of being a volunteer?

You are able to attend presales designated just for volunteers. This means you are the first ones to Shop Till You Drop.... For information on days and times, see our Presale Information page.

Is childcare provided for the volunteers?

At this time we are unable to provide childcare for the volunteers.
